Situated in the heart of Cap Martinet, in Santa Eulalia del Río, CASA CM stands as a clear and striking response to the topography of the site. Far from following the slope in a stepped manner, the house cuts through the landscape, partially embedding itself into the hillside whilst, at the same time, rising above it, establishing a subtle yet powerful dialogue between geometry and nature.
This project is set amongst modern homes, yet stands out through its own distinctive design language, where the purity of the white volume is complemented by the warm texture of local natural stone, creating architecture that looks to the future whilst retaining its connection to Ibizan tradition.
The house is arranged over four levels that unfold organically:
Basement: The lowest level, which blends into the ground, houses the garage, the plant room, and storage areas, freeing up the upper floors for living spaces.
Ground floor: This level comprises the sleeping quarters. Three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and a master suite with a spacious dressing room provide private spaces. The living room, which opens onto a private courtyard, is flanked by a utility room and an outdoor bathroom serving the pool area.
First floor: This is where the main social space is located: an open-plan living-dining-kitchen area, where natural light floods in through large windows, offering unobstructed sea views. It also features a pantry, a bathroom and direct access to a landscaped rear courtyard, creating a seamless flow between indoors and outdoors.
Upper floor: A sun terrace and a dining/barbecue area complete this floor, providing a space for leisure and enjoyment, with panoramic views that allow you to take in the landscape and the Mediterranean climate.
The materials chosen for the project highlight the relationship between the built environment and the natural surroundings: natural stone walls are combined with white volumes to create architecture that exudes modernity, whilst also paying homage to the site’s roots.
Access is organised in a distinctive way: the pedestrian access rises gently through the garden to the main floor, whilst the vehicle access descends slightly to the basement, meeting functional requirements without altering the overall design of the house.
CASA CM is a statement of intent regarding how to inhabit a place: an architecture which, rather than imitating the slope, interprets it, transforming it into part of its own structure, and establishing a unique connection with the landscape, the light and the topography.
