CASA MJ, situated in the municipality of Santa Eulalia del Río, is set on a flat, rural plot in a countryside setting characterised by its natural landscape. The house, conceived as a detached unit, is designed in accordance with the principles of traditional Ibizan architecture, reinterpreted through a composition of clean-lined volumes of varying heights, with gently sloping planes that lend dynamism to the whole.
The project is organised around a central courtyard, which defines the interior layout and enhances ventilation and natural light in the main spaces. The materials used include local stone, juniper wood and whitewashed walls, blending respectfully into the surroundings and highlighting local building techniques.
The ground floor houses the living areas — a lounge connected to the courtyard, a dining room-kitchen, a pantry and a guest toilet — alongside two en-suite bedrooms, whilst the first floor is entirely dedicated to the master suite, which opens onto a private sun terrace. In addition, the house has a basement, housing technical rooms and water tanks, which frees up the functional layout of the house and ensures its self-sufficiency in a rural setting. Features such as the entrance pergola and the pergolas on the south-east façade help to refine the relationship between interior and exterior and control sunlight in the most exposed areas. The project is completed by an outdoor swimming pool, creating an intimate domestic setting that opens out onto the surrounding natural landscape.
